DC Startup Week and Booz Allen Hamilton Celebrate D.C. Innovation
Day-long Event to Highlight DMV-area Entrepreneurs and Feature Startup Pitch Competition
August 26, 2019 – Washington, DC – Washington DC Startup Week, the annual gathering of the startup community in the Washington, D.C. area today announced a day-long celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship hosted by Booz Allen Hamilton on September 9, 2019. The event will be part of the fourth annual DC Startup Week, which is expected to draw more than 7,000 founders, entrepreneurs, investors and other attendees to a wide slate of exciting events held throughout Washington, D.C. during the week of September 9th through 13th.

Startup Week visitors to the Booz Allen Hamilton Innovation Center – located at 901 15th Street, NW – will be treated to a showcase of speakers, panels and events highlighting innovative technology solutions that are being developed in the D.C. area. Events include:
- Remarks by Dee Dee Helfenstein, Executive Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton
- Panel discussions on topics including the future of AI innovation, trends in venture capital investing, connecting corporate values to community causes and more with panelists and moderators from organizations including SparkLabs, Vinetta Project, Lyft, and the Case Foundation.
- A pitch competition for DMV-area startup founders and teams who will be given the opportunity to pitch their company, product and service to a live and virtual audience of potential customers, connectors, investors and advisors.
The day will be capped off with a fireside chat featuring Susan Penfield, Chief Innovation Officer at Booz Allen, Marlene Aquino, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at Booz Allen, and Duane McKnight of the DC Inclusive Innovation Fund. The trio will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. for a panel on innovation, diversity and the role of venture capital in effecting change.
